Virgil E. Smith, 73 of West Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022 in The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. He was born in Vigo County on September 29, 1948 to Fred Smith and Estella Lowe Smith.

Virgil was a carpenter with Carpenter’s Local # 133 and was a member of the West Terre Haute Young Men’s Club and the Red Oak Bass Club.

Virgil is survived by is wife Roberta Huff Smith and their two sons; Robert Smith and James Smith. He is also survived by four brothers; Rusty Smith, Kenny Smith, Gary Smith, and David Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his grand dog, TQ.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Kathy Roush officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 11:00 AM until time of service in the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
