Joshua Michael Gatewood, 34, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away at 10:50a.m. February 9, 2022. Joshua was born May 17, 1987 to Susan M. Vaughn and John Jeffery Gatewood who preceded him in death. Joshua was a graduate of Riverton Park High School where he played football. Joshua joined the Military (Army) and graduated from Ft. Benning, Georgia Infantry ECHO 2-19 2nd Platoon April 16, 2008. Making his family and friends proud. He then continued his service in Afghanistan where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Joshua enjoyed spending time with his family and friends which included many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles that he was very close to. Joshua had a love of music at an early age, he self-taught himself how to play Bass guitar. Joshua had a big heart and playful sense of humor, taking advantage of every opportunity to pull pranks on friends and family and sharing the laughs they brought on. It was always just as important to see a smile on someone else’s face, than it was to wear his own. He would always want to be remembered as a caring and loving individual who was very deep down family oriented. Joshua was also very good at drawing and computers. He will be missed by many. Joshua is survived by his mother Susan M. Vaughn (Barry); sister Traci L. Harden (Clayton); his son John B. Gatewood. Joshua was also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joshua is preceded in death by his father John J. Gatewood; brother John B. Gatewood; his loving Nana Janet Culp; and grandmother Barbara Selby and other deceased family members. Cremation has been chosen. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
