Sharon Lea Cox,70, of Libertyville, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, February 17th 2022 at 5:36am. She was employed with Columbia Records for many years and later retired from North American Lighting after many years of service. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Harold “Sonny” Cox, four children; Paul Bridgewater Jr. (fiancee’ Jennifer), Susan Brazzell (husband Eric), Toni McWilliams (husband Shane), Sonny Cox Jr. (wife Hyidi), eleven grandchildren; Brittany Van Buren (fiance’ Dylan), Kenneth Scoggin (fiancee’ Jessica), Allison McWilliams, Samantha Kellams, John Porter, Mckenzie Carter (husband Isaac), Bailey McWilliams, Emily McWilliams, Kayleigh Allen, Macenzie Allen, Jojo Allen, seven great-grandchildren; Aubree, Haizlea, Mikayla, Jackson, Madison, Findley, Aydan. Sharon was also expecting a new great-granddaughter in July of 2022. Sister Dawn Ames, Kay Hovious, brother Jeffery Hovious (wife Janice), brother-in-law Larry Cox (wife Betty), sister-in-law Sandy Glover and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father James Richard Pickrell and mother Mary Lucille Smith-Pickrell, father-in-law Clarence H. Cox and mother-in-law Blanch Cox, and son Randall J. Cox. Sharon enjoyed spending many years with her husband at the Wabash Valley Dragway, along with their friends and serving up her home-made ham salad while giving the guys their dial in numbers. She enjoyed baking and cooking, a lot of which consisted of wild game that Sonny would bring home. She loved being home, reading books, and listening to hymns. She valued the time she spent with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sharon loved sharing her life with her sister Dawn and her dearest friends Pearl, Carolyn, Christine, Virgie and Charlotte. A celebration of life will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022 from 5pm-7pm with family starting at 4:30pm. In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, cremation has been chosen with burial of her ashes at a later date in Shirley Cemetery.
