Verlin was born Dec. 2, 1949, in West Terre Haute to William David Pennell and Helen Edna (Vester) Pennell. He said his farewell on Mar. 16, 2022.
Verlin Graduated from West Vigo H.S. in 1967. He worked on the R.R. before entering the U.S. Navy in Jan. 1969. While serving in the Navy, he played music for the American Forces Radio Service in Rota, Spain, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. While stationed in Spain, he met his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Ann Hayes.
After the Navy, he built powerlines, put up tents, and worked for Tredegar Film Products from which he retired in 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Betty Gilbert, Gloria Haskett, William, Eugene, James, and Howard . His wife Carolyn passed away to her eternal reward in June of 2021. He is survived by siblings Frances Walters, and Judith Thompson. Known affectionately as Uncle Vee, he was the beloved uncle to several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Cemetery Memorial Chapel/Mausoleum on Monday, Mar. 21st, 2022 at 1 PM. Rev. Todd Haller will be officiating.
