
R. Keith Simonson, 84, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away while living at Westminster Village on March 27, 2022.
Keith was born on April 25, 1937, in Brazil, Indiana, the son of Roy F. and Audrey Maxine (Knapp) Simonson. He graduated from Glenn High School with the class of 1956. Shortly following high school, he began working for IBM, in Greencastle. He transferred with the company to Raleigh, North Carolina where he worked at the Research Triangle Plant until retiring. He married Betty Ann Miller on September 6, 1958; she preceded him in death in 2020.
Keith was an avid golfer. While living in Clay County he coached church-league basketball. After moving to Cadiz, Kentucky he coached with Upward Basketball. Church was a big part of Keith’s life. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent and teacher at Harmony Community Church. He attended Friendship Baptist Church in Raleigh, North Carolina and was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church, in Cadiz, Kentucky. He also served in prison ministry and the Gideon’s Bible Ministry while living in Garner, North Carolina. When he was working for IBM he served as the president of the IBM Club.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Audrey Simonson; his wife Betty Simonson; a son Rick Simonson; two brothers: Phil Simonson and Terry “Dink” Simonson; and two sons-in-law: Steve Swaim and Terry Moss; a sister-in-law Donna Simonson and a brother-in-law John Slack.
Keith is survived by three children: Chris Simonson (Vendie) of Ormond By The Sea, Florida, Julianne Moss (David Turnbull) of Clinton, Indiana, and Jennifer Hawkins (Rich) of Brazil; grandchildren: Jeremy Simonson (April), Jason Mullenix (Allison), Cindy Pfleuger (Chris), Jaime Pearson (Ryan), Kelsie Simonson (Jeremy), Ashley Bonte (Jason), Corey Simonson (Hannah), Alex Froderman (Hank), and Nathan Stout; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Brendan, Taylor, Zoe, Kade, Addison, Logan, Kenzie, Betty, Archer, Addalynn, Brielle, and Grayson; sister Sherrie Slack of Melbourne, Florida; sister-in-law Sue Douglas of Ohio; several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
