TERRE HAUTE- Regina Dawn Crichfield Young, 53, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Signature Health with family by her side. She was born July 22, 1968 to Raymond Blaine and Thelma Joann Crichfield.

She attended Terre Haute South where she graduated in 1986.

Regina worked as a med tech at the APS Clinic until her diabetes made it too difficult to work.

Regina was known for her smile which lit up the world. Shortly after her fiftieth birthday, she entered Signature Health Care, where she was loved by all. One resident said,“She changed us for the better.”

Reginas loves of her life were her two sons, Alex and Justin. She was a brittle diabetic whose pregnancies were an added stress to her health. She often said she knew how Shelby felt in the movie Steel Magnolias, when it came to the risks of being pregnant and diabetic. “I would rather have thirty minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.”

Sadly, she lost her oldest son Alex to cancer at the age of 21 and she would live her life with half her heart on earth and the other half in heaven.

Regina was preceded in death by her father Raymond Crichfield; her brothers, Carl and Larry Crichfield; and her first born and beloved son Alex Young. Regina is survived by her mother Joann Crichfield; son Justin Todd Young and wife Rosie; Regina was able to hold and meet her first granddaughter, Lilly Young who was just two weeks old; five siblings, Sally Leclercq and husband Dave; Scotty Alumbaugh, Vicky Robison and husband Rob, Carolyn Corey and husband John, Rhonda Accardo and husband Andrew; and many nephews and nieces who adored her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th St, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation for family are at 1:00 pm, with open visitation from 2:00-3:00. Service’s will be held at the funeral home at 3:00 with Pastor Kevin Dobson officiating.

Special thanks to the staff and residents at Signature Health Care, her friends at Davita Dialysis and to all of her doctors and nurses over the years for loving our girl. You became family.

To the friends and family that Regina did not get the chance to say good bye to, she simply loved you to much to say goodbye. Some of the most beautiful goodbyes were built over time in the most precious of memories.

During the time Regina was in long term care, both Regina and her mother were touched by the lives of those who had no one. In lieu of flowers, her mothers wishes are for you to remember the residents who they both grew to love in Long Term Care, with memorial contributions being made to Signature Health Care or SHC 3500 Maple Ave, Terre Haute IN 47804. Checks may also be made out to Reginas mother, Joann Crichfield and she will make the donation.
