Brazil, In. – On Monday, the Clay County Commissioners and Clay County Council passed resolutions that 5 million dollars coming from the federal government will be used correctly due to recent changes to federal rules.

Monday night, County Commissioner Paul Sinders told WAMB that the county received about 5-point-1 million dollars in money from the American Rescue Plan to be used to replace loss of revenue.

“That means (the money) can be used for about any worthwhile project in the county,” Sinders said. “It cannot be used however for pensions.”

Sinders said the county commissioners have not yet determined how the 5 million will be spent.

“I can tell your at this point that about 1-point-1 million will be used for expanding broadband in Clay County,” Sinders said.  To see an interview with Commissioner Sinders click on the link below.
