Shirley JoAnn Knox, 84, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away at Union Hospital on May 2, 2022, following a 60-year battle with Addison’s Disease.

Shirley was born on September 20, 1937, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Bill and Daisy (Peters) Keck. She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1955. She worked for Jackson Township Elementary as a librarian and then as a price checker at K-Mart for many years.

When she wasn’t working Shirley enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and crafting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Kathy Knox; her sister Jeanne Keck; and a brother Pierce Kent “Kenny” Keck.

Shirley is survived by her three children: Kim Deakins, Kay Knox, and Kelly Knox; grandchildren: Matthew (Terra) Deakins, Zachary Knox, Jacob Knox, and Anthony Knox; great-granddaughter Mallory Deakins as well as various extended family members and friends.

At Shirley’s request, no services have been planned. Cremation has been entrusted to French Funeral Home, in Brazil.
