Margaret “Maggie” Louise Johnson, 72, passed away July 10, 2022 in Lafayette, Indiana. Maggie was born to the late Silas Johnson and Grace (Sparks) McGuire in Reelsville, Indiana on November 21, 1949.
Maggie graduated with honors from Ivy Tech with an Associate’s Degree in Bookkeeping. She maintained a 4.0 grade point average while being a single mom raising her three children. Maggie worked at First Financial Bank as a Customer Service Representative for nearly 20 years, retiring in 2012. She was a devoted mother, a dedicated member of the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Spencer, and an avid reader who loved gospel music and word puzzles.
Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary Lee Gaskins, and one sister Bernice Laws.
Maggie is survived by her three children, Penny Karn (Benjamin), Sheila Gaskins, and Barbara Gaskins. Three siblings, Carolyn Parrott, Jim “Jimbo” Johnson, and Dolly Burroff (Richard “Lee”), as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 14th from 4-8 P.M. at French Funeral Home, 421 East National Avenue in Brazil. A funeral service will be held Friday July 15th at 12 P.M. at Little Flock Church, 7415 Little Flock Road, Spencer, Indiana 47460. Friends and family may visit at the church from 11 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be at Gross Cemetery, followed by a dinner hosted by the church for friends and family.
