Barbara Ann Jones, 85, passed away July 17, 2022. Barbara was born to the late Elmer Estel and Clara Elizabeth (Miller) Griffith on February 2, 1937 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Barbara attended Brazil High School. She was a member of Staunton Christian Church. On April 18, 1954, Barbara married the love of her life, Wilburn Jones. Barbara was a teacher’s aide with the Clay Community School Corporation working in special education and later kindergarten. Together, she and Wilburn owned and operated The Pool Shop for over 30 years. Barbara was known around town as “The Pool Lady”. Barbara enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her flowers. She had the gift of hospitality, always welcoming family and friends into her home and hosting many family events. Barbara was a fabulous cook and baker. She enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel and Bluegrass. Barbara loved traveling with Wilburn going on cruises and other adventures.
Barbara loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids grow up playing in the pool.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, as well as one brother, Robert R. Griffith and sister-in-law Janet Griffith.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Wilburn Jones of over 68 years, three children, Jeannie A. Price (Fred), Jerry E. Jones (Lucy), and Becky L. Fouts (Randy), grandchildren, Amy E. Stagg (Ryan), Joshua Price (Michelle), M. Brandon Jones (Julianna), Kyle W. Jones (Lorraine), Andrew Fouts (Mica), and Brenna Bennett (Caleb), great grandchildren, Jarrid, Jessica, Megan and Tessa Stagg, Jackson & Ruthie Price, Mikayla, Oliver, Micah, Hattie, Elle, Benjamin, and Teddy Jones, Essie, Karsyn and Thad Fouts, Carla, Izaac and Ava Bennett, as well as several other extended family members.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 22nd from 4-8 P.M. at French Funeral Home, 421 East National Avenue in Brazil. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Greg Comp will begin at 1 P.M. on Saturday, July 23rd at the funeral home. Friends and family may visit from 12 P.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
