James (“Jim”) Mishler, 71, of Brazil, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at IU Medical Center on July 19, 2022.

Jim was born on July 21, 1950, in Brazil, Indiana, the son of Madison (“Red”) Mishler and Eloise (Willen) Mishler. He graduated from Clay City High School and Purdue University. He married the love of his life, Ruthann “Anne” (Yegerlehner) Mishler on January 31, 1970. Jim taught vocational agriculture for two years at South Newton High School and was a farmer for several years before working in Agribusiness for more than 25 years.

Jim was a member of World Gospel Church where he was an avid choir member. He was a gifted vocalist and was a soloist for many community events throughout the years. He served on church councils, 4-H councils, was a 4-H leader, and a member of the Owen County Extension Board. He was affiliated with El Shaddai Emaus Community and Kids Hope Internatinonal. Jim enjoyed working with kids of all ages and attending many of his children’s and grandchildren’s events.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Red and Eloise Mishler; brother Bill Mishler; in-laws Earl and Imogene Yegerlehner; brothers-in-law Wayne Kincaid and Larry Sharp; sister-in-law Darla Mishler; granddaughter Gillian Webb.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anne; children Krista (Eric) Lavonas, Bret (Lorre) Mishler, and Rachelle (Angela) Stefanski; grandchildren Derrick Mishler, Madalaine (Schuyler) Horky, Geoff (Elena Mnayarji) Webb, Megan (Graham) Hughes, Anna Mishler, Calvin Lavonas, Nolan Mishler, and Lucy Lavonas; sister Jane Mishler Kincaid; as well as many extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at World Gospel Church, 900 Gardendale Road, Terre Haute, Indiana, on Friday, July 22, 2022, from 10:00-2:00. Visitation will be held at First United Church of Christ, 6414 County Road 1550, Clay City, Indiana, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 10:00-1:00, followed by service at 1:00.
