Ricky (Ricky Jo) Dean Murdock, 64, of West Terre Haute, IN passed away in his sleep in the early hours of August 8th, 2022. He was born October 2, 1957 in Terre Haute to Joseph & Eileen Murdock. He grew up being involved in many sports and activities, including wrestling and football. He was often known as a class clown and was an all around fun and amazing person to be around.

He worked at Western Paper for 32 years until the mill closed. He worked at ISU for 10 years where he eventually retired. Coworkers often referred to him as “a giant teddy bear” and said he could “light up the room he walked into”. He married the love of his life, Peggy Lynn Murdock, on February 14, 1995. Rick was a proud US Veteran, serving in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer. He was also a member of Faith United Methodist Church in West Terre Haute. He was often seen volunteering at Providence Food Pantry. He enjoyed making personalized wooden projects for family and friends in his spare time. He was always the type to help anyone in need and his goal was to leave you with a smile.

His survivors include: his Mother, Elieen Murdock, his Wife, Peggy Murdock, his brother, Troy Murdock (Susan), his daughter Nicole Parson (Chuckie), his daughter Meggan Jones (Herbie), his son Joshua Jeffers (Tiffany), his little princess Sarah Norris (Josh), his 17 grandchildren, which he loved and cared for dearly (included as follows: Skyler Parson, Ashton Lundy, Joshua Carter II, Alyssa Carter, Connie Parson, Hailey Hillhouse, Gillian Drake, Leland Drake, Makenzie Sullivan, Khloe Jones, Logan Drake, Kelly Jones, Eliza Jeffers, Finley Drake, Gabriel Norris, Izaiah Jeffers, and Zaylie Jeffers) as well as Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins

He was preceded in death by his Father, Joseph Murdock, and his daughter Michelle Fiscus.

Visitation will be on Friday August 12, 2022 from 5pm – 8pm at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN. Funeral services will begin at 8pm, with Pastor Ed Gladish officiating.
