Dorothy M. Auler, 78, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday October 2, 2022 in Union Hospital. Dorothy was born in Terre Haute on August 7, 1944 to Henry Poorman and Reba Campbell Poorman. She was retired from the Vigo County School Corporation working at Meadows, Sugar Grove and Franklin Elementary Schools. Dorothy loved flowers and working in her garden and enjoyed visiting gambling casinos and horse racing. She was a sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed football. She was preceded in death by her parents a sister, Barbara Brown, and a son, Timmy Auler. She is survived by her husband, Larry Auler of Terre Haute, a daughter, Amy Auler and a son, Scott Auler (Amber) both of Terre Haute, bonus daughter, Cheryl Auler and a step son, Randy Auler (Sharon). She is survived by a brother, Dick Poorman (Sue) of Marshall, IL. She is survived by brother and sister in-laws; Vicki Jones, Candy and Tom Rooksberry, Sandy and Orbie Dawson, Lisa and Harold Grayless and Mary and David Otte. She is survived by grandchildren; Allison Auler, Jonathan Auler and Kimberly Auler and great grandchildren; Madison, Lily and Aubrey as well as three other great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews survive; Peggy Gastineau, Debbie Leitch (Barry), Tony Poorman and great nieces and nephews; Heather Morgan (Andy), Katie Leitch, Chad Leitch and other great great nieces and nephews. Services are Friday October 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN. 47804. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pastor Clark Cowden will be officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to American Cancer Society in care of Breast Cancer Awareness.
