James E. May, 79 of Marshall, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022 in OSF Sacred Heart Hospital in Danville, Illinois. He was born in West Terre haute on April 5, 1943 to Henry May and Ruth Marie Hargett May.

Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and worked as a coal miner for Zeigler Coal Company. He was a member of the United Mine Workers.

Jim is survived by his companion, Vicki Volkers, and nephews Rocky May and Jerry May, nieces Karen Rogers and Vicki Yocum, as well as other nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as four siblings; June Franklin, Judy Harmon, Jane Ann Morris, and Alfred May.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Larry Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in Bethesda Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 12 Noon – 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
