TERRE HAUTE — On Sunday morning at 8:31 a.m., a suspect was arrested after a burglar alarm sounded inside the Boys and Girls Club, 924 N. 13th St.

March 19th, 2023 at 8:31 pm, THPD Uniformed Officers responded to the Boys and Girls Club located at 924 N 13th St for an active burglary alarm.

A representative of the club met officers and gave permission to search the building.

Officers met with a representative from the organization who opened the building to allow access for officers to search.

During a room by room search, Michael R. Bousman, 39, of Terre Haute was arrested.

IN the room where he was hiding, officers found freshly cut pieces of copper pipe and multiple burglary tools.

“Due to the high salvage price for Copper its theft is a nationwide issue,” stated a post on the police department’s social media page. “Copper thieves typically locate empty businesses or vacant residences, so they can work undisturbed for hours removing copper pipes and wire. The thieves then leave behind thousands of dollars of damage for the property owners. The Terre Haute Police Department appreciates the help and information we receive daily from our community. Please be vigilant and continue to report any suspicious persons or activity to our department.”
