Eileen Averill, 85 of Centerpoint, passed away May 17, 2023, at 9:18pm at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.
She was born May 17, 1938, in New Bedford, MA, the daughter of Leon Cordeiro and Aurora Benoit Cordeiro. She graduated from Hialeah High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Wynne Averill, on May 16, 1958.
Eileen enjoyed watching many sports, but most of all, she loved her Pacer Basketball Team. When she was younger, she bowled on many leagues and was often in the paper for her high scores. She has enjoyed genealogy and crossword puzzles and playing Bingo games at Dietz Lake. Eileen has always had a kind heart for friends and cats, and making sure they were all fed. Her devotion to her family was number one, showing love through family dinners and time together.
Survivors include her children, Kenneth Averill, Lori Roberts (Kevin), Kim Buell (Billy), and Thomas Averill (Anita); grandchildren, Eddie Hobbs (Cari), Jennifer Abner, Michael Abner (Amelia), Kandice Henry, Megan Buell, Alexandrea Edington, Tori Edington, Kaylee Buell, David Thompson, Chris Doyle, and Tim Doyle; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Madison, Nick, Emily, Jayla, Sean, Aleigha, Brynleigh, Asher, Alexis, and Samuel; sister, Evelyn Cordeiro; brother, Leon Cordeiro, Jr.; and other extended family.
She was preceded by her parents, Leon, and Ora Cordeiro; a brother, Leon F. Cordeiro, a sister, Shirley Nelson; and her dear husband, Wynne Averill, who passed away November 19, 2022.
Graveside services will be held this Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 3:00pm at Centerpoint Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Bennett officiating. Family and friends may gather at 2:00 prior to services. Post a note of condolence at www.frenchfuneralhome.com
