
TERRE HAUTE- John Fredrick Wiltermood, 83, of Terre Haute passed away on
Monday, May 15, 2023 at Springhill Village nursing home.
He was born December 25, 1939 in Clinton, Indiana to John A. Wiltermood and
Margaret Pagliero Wiltermood, who preceded him in death.
John was a graduate of Clinton H.S. and Indiana State University. His early
teaching career started in Illinois, then he served as Principal of Bridgeton School,
speech teacher at Schulte H.S., and he retired after 15 years as a professor at
Vincennes University.
He was a Big fan of IU sports, Green Bay Packers, and the Dodgers. He was a long
time member of the Zorah Shrine, Scottish Rite, and Jerusalem Lodge No. 99 Free
Masons of Clinton, Indiana. He was recognized for his volunteer work with the
Cardiac unit at Regional Hospital.
John was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 58 years,
Louise Chiado Wiltermood, and son Aaron Wiltermood ( significant other, Amy
Miller) all of Terre Haute. Grandsons Mason Wiltermood, Ian Wiltermood (wife
Ashley) of Indianapolis, two granddaughters, Avery and Kensley Wiltermood of
Sullivan, Indiana. Brother-in-law Tom Chiado (wife Linda) of Terre Haute. And a
special cousin, Mary Francis Popp of Bloomington, Indiana.
The family was assisted by Greiner Funeral home, and has chosen to have a
private service at a later date.
