CARMEL, Ind. — The Carmel Fire Department announced Friday that it hosted another successful Firefighter For A Day Camp. The free camp, which ran June 20-23, reached full enrollment in just 38 minutes. Campers headed to Aletto Fieldhouse at the Carmel Dad’s Club to learn the ins and outs of being a firefighter. They also got free goodies, played games, and rotated through six activity stations. Stations included a Rescue Maze, an adjusted CPAT Course (candidate physical aptitude test), an Obstacle Course Race, and a Truck Wash Station.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — There is a new animal to meet at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo! WANE 15 reports that Benedict, a two-toed sloth, can now be seen by the public. He arrived from Staten Island a few months ago, but the zoo had to wait for outside temperatures to warm before letting him roam. INDIANAPOLIS — This weekend, Indianapolis Animal Care Services is hoping you will meet your fur-ever friend at the Let Freedom Ring Adoption Event. You can head to South Harding Street from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, where all dog AND cat adoptions will be free. There will also be a cookout from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

INDIANAPOLIS — The 31st Indian Market and Festival is happening at the Eiteljorg Museum! Native artists from the U.S. and Canada will be selling items such as jewelry, paintings, and carvings from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. There will also be food trucks, live performances, and family-friendly activities at the popular summer event. You might want to try treats like the Native American fry bread and Navajo tacos.
