From Duke Energy

We appreciate your patience as our crews continue working tirelessly to restore power as quickly and safely as possible in the aftermath of Thursday’s severe storms. We know being without power is frustrating in hot weather, especially on a holiday weekend.

We have more than doubled our workforce, including over 1,000 reinforcements that have traveled from outside the state, for a total of 1,600 personnel working to restore power to our customers.

The process of assessing the extensive damage from the first battery of storms is complete, and initial restoration estimates have been provided on our outage map, based on current conditions. The dates and times shared refer to the time we expect to have nearly all service back on in the surrounding area, but many customers will be restored sooner.

The forecast is calling for more high winds and stormy weather throughout the day and into the evening, which could cause additional damage and new outages that may delay the current restoration time estimates. We’ve already seen over 20,000 additional power outages from early morning storm activity. We will continue to keep you informed with the latest information on restoration times.

Remember to visit our Storm Center for ways to help stay safe should we encounter another round of severe weather.
