From the Brazil Police Department
With the Fourth of July quickly approaching, we want to remind everyone about laws regarding the use of fireworks in Brazil. There are three main requirements regarding consumer fireworks.
According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security:
1) You must be 18 or older to purchase fireworks
2) An adult must be present for anyone under the age of 18 to possess or use a firework
3) Fireworks may only be used on your property or the property of someone who has approved your use of fireworks
Legal consumer fireworks are allowed during the following days and times:
– June 29 to July 3: from 5 p.m. until two hours after sunset
– July 4: from 10 a.m. until midnight
– July 5 to July 9: from 5 p.m. until two hours after sunset
– December 31 from 10 a.m. until January 1 at 1:00 a.m.
Be sure to understand Local Ordinances in addition to the State requirements.
We ask that everyone please be responsible, use consumer fireworks safely, and be considerate of individuals with post-traumatic stress. Also, please be aware of the fur-babies who may not love loud noises.
Thanks and enjoy the Holiday!
