Betty June Hassler, 90, passed away July 1, 2023. She was born February 28, 1933 in Putnam County.

Betty graduated from Reelsville High School. On June 4, 1954 Betty married the love of her life, Gilbert Lee Hassler, who preceded her in death in 2012. Later in life, Betty attended and obtained an Associate’s Degree from Indiana State University. For many years she was the secretary at Brazil Jr. High School. She also worked as a secretary for the Indiana Special Olympics and retired as an administrative assistant at Indiana State University. Betty and Gib were members of Berea Christian Church where they were very active with their Sunday School Class, the Crusaders. Betty was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Lucky Ladies Home Economics Club. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. In her free time she loved to read and go shopping.

Betty is preceded in death by her mother, Mabel (Kieffaber) Renner, and her husband Gib Hassler.

Betty is survived by her son, Mark Hassler (Sally), two grandchildren, Trevor Hassler (Samantha), and Trace Whitesell (Cody), great grandchildren, Tilden, Corben, Charity, Jennings, and Renner, as well as one brother, Robert Renner.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11th from 1-3 P.M. at French Funeral Home, 421 East National Avenue in Brazil. A funeral service will begin at 3 P.M. Burial of cremated remains will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
