William R. “Bill” Big Daddy Camp Sr., 82, of Fontanet, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023 in his residence.
Bill was born October 20, 1940 in Terre Haute to Franklin Camp and Carrie Ringo Camp. Bill had many interests including Horseshoeing, Bull Rider, Race Horses, Dancing, Karaoke and especially loved music. He was a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. He was a Truck Driver, and owned many Food Trailers throughout the years. He was a Firefighter for 48 years and the owner of Camp and Son’s Painting Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Okley Ted Lowe; brothers, James, Franklin, Harry and Benny; and a sister, Carolyn Butts; and his wife, Georgetta Hoffman Camp, November of 2013. He is survived by two children, William Ray Camp Jr. and Joed Fields, both of Fontanet. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Lila Camp, as well; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Bill raised nine children.
Services are Friday, July 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pastor James Thurston will be officiating. Online condolences may be made at:
