Jackie C. Gilbert, 82, of Lewis, Indiana passed from this life at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care on August 15, 2023.

He was born to Edward and Mae (Swalls) Gilbert on December 6, 1940 in Terre Haute, Indiana. He graduated from Glenn High School in 1958.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Hagerman) Gilbert, son Robert Kevin Gilbert (Therease) of Lewis and daughter Kimberly K. Thompson (Brian) of Nashville, Indiana. Granddaughter, Alysia Sullivan (Josh), great granddaughter, Alta, and great grandson, Aubrey Sullivan, as well as several nieces and nephews and very special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Eddie, Billie, Leslie, Sammie and Stanley also a grandson, Sgt. Jonathon M. Hunter of Columbus, Indiana.

He enjoyed raising cattle and horseback riding with family and friends.

He was employed at Alcan Aluminum Co. and Vigo County School Corporation. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Apostolic Church of Linton.

At his request, no services will be held and cremation has been chosen.
