Norma Jean Rector, 95, passed away at her residence on August 16, 2023 surrounded by family. Norma was born to the late Anthony and Ora (LaSelle) Fretz on January 7, 1928 in Clay County.

Norma was a graduate of Ashboro High School. On August 7, 1945, Norma married the love of her life, Ray C. Rector, who preceded her in death on November 25, 1999. She attended Cory Zion Church. In her free time, Norma enjoyed quilting and traveling. She was a member of the Calico Quilters Club.

Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Rector, her parents, a grandson, Paul Shonk, siblings, Vera Sharp, Ralph Fretz, Bernice Wegner, Paul Fretz, Cecil Fretz, Elsie Dunn, and Virginia Ruth Stant.

Norma is survived by her four children, Carol Shonk (Bill), Marilyn Woodruff (Mike), Kenny Rector (Deedra) and Jerry Rector (Toni), grandchildren, Christy Schlegel, Erica Halstead (Jack), Stacey Schott (Steven), Jason Shonk, Bradley Woodruff (Sonia), Matthew Woodruff (Katie), Josh Rector (Rawan), Kate Pollard (Levi), Malcom Rector, Dan Rector (Amanda), Shaun Rector (Jamie), and Lucas Rector (Chelsea), as well as 15 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 19th at 1 P.M. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East 8th Street in Clay City. Friends and family may visit from 11 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
