Joseph Benjamin Lowery, Sr. age 80, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. He was born on August 19, 1943 in Morganfield, Kentucky to Joseph Landon Lowery and Anna Bell Liggin Lowery.

Joe served his country in the US Army and the Indiana National Guard.

He was known in the community for his love of lawn care.

His parents and his wife, Jessie Lee Lowery preceded him in death.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory; two sons, Joseph Lowery Jr. (Kelly) of Terre Haute, IN, Michael L. Lowery Sr. (Barbara) of Indianapolis, IN; his five Grandchildren, Jessica Turner (Andre), Delbert Lowery, Leah Lowery, Michael D. Lowery, Michael L. Lowery, Jr; his Great Grandchildren, Laresha Johnson, Lavontee’ Lowery, and Kahlil Lowery; and great-great grandfather to Melani Lowery. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, cousins, friends.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 12:30 on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Saint John’s Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dexter Jordan officiating. A viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Due to Covid-19, seating is limited to 50 people. All visitors are required to wear masks.
