Jessie Joan McGill, 79, passed away September 27, 2023. Joan was born to the late Austin and Irene (Maybaugh) Duncan on February 28, 1944 in Clay City.

Joan graduated from Clay City High School in 1962. Shortly after high school graduation, Joan married the love of her life, Jerry McGill on October 6, 1962. Joan and Jerry raised two children, Mike and Michelle. Joan was a stay-at-home mom for the first several years of their childhood. After her children started school, she became a substitute teacher in Clay City and eventually became an instructional assistant at the elementary school for many years. She was a prideful member of the home ec. club for many years. Joan attended Faith Southern Baptist Church for many years. She loved watching sports in her free time. Family was very important to Joan and she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities, and always made sure that each family member had a cake baked for them on their birthday.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Herschel and Carl Duncan.

Joan is survived by her husband Jerry, two children, Mike McGill (Sarah), and Michelle Weber (Matt), and two grandchildren, Ashley Weber, and Alexis Weber.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 30th from 11-1 at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. 8th Street in Clay City. A funeral service will begin at 1 P.M. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
