Peggy Diane Burger, 73, of Clay City, Indiana, passed away on October 28, 2023, at Ascension Heart Center, in Carmel, Indiana, following heart complications.

Peggy was born on November 12, 1949, in Brazil, Indiana, the daughter of John David and Deloris (Bailey) Megenhardt. She graduated from Clay City High School with the class of 1967. She married Wayne Burger who preceded her in death. Peggy was a long-time member of the First United Church of Christ, in Clay City, where she sang in the choir. She also was a member of the HomEc Club and the American Legion and VFW Auxilliary.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents John David and Deloris Megenhardt, her husband Wayne Burger, and an infant daughter Kimberly Dianne Burger.

Peggy is survived by her 3 sons: Nick Burger, Terrence Burger and wife Mahala, and Matthew Burger; grandchildren: Deven Burger, Kamryn Burger, Claudia Burger, and Alexus Burger; a great-grandson Armani Chrisitan Shelby; siblings: Larry Megenhardt and wife Darlene, Ginger Singleton and husband Paul, Lacy Walker and husband Tony, John Megenhardt and wife Penny, DeeAnn Greenman and husband Bob, and Barbie Braun as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 East Eighth Street Clay City, Indiana 47834, on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services will be on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the First United Church of Christ 6414 County Rd 1550, Clay City, IN 47841 with Pastor Bret Mishler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
