Eric Rawley, 48, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2023 at his residence in Clay City. He was born on January 21, 1975, in Brazil, Indiana,
Eric’s passion for humor and making others laugh was the highlight of his life. He was often the mastermind behind elaborate practical jokes. His pranks were a testament to his creativity and desire to spread joy. Eric’s sense of humor was only matched by his loyalty as a friend. Those who had the privilege of calling him a friend knew he was loyal to the end.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Eric found solace and contentment in landscaping, especially at his grandparents’ house. His hands were often found in the soil, planting seeds that would bloom into stunning displays, much like the way he cultivated relationships in his life.
Family and friends were the cornerstone of Eric’s world. He cherished every moment spent with his kids and was especially crazy about his granddaughter, Valerie. His face would light up with the purest joy whenever she was around, and he dedicated himself to being a source of love and laughter in her life. Eric’s devotion to his family and the love of his life, Crystal was unwavering, and the bonds he forged with them are eternal. Together, Eric and Crystal spent 20 years together raising their children, Aryka and Kameron.
Eric’s faithful canine companions, Jay and Layla were a constant presence by his side. Their bond was a testament to Eric’s loving nature and his ability to connect with all living beings. Together, they enjoyed long walks and the simple pleasures of companionship.
Eric will be remembered as a man who was funny, loving, and selfless. He had the rare ability to lift spirits with just a smile or a clever joke. His legacy is one of laughter, kindness, and an unwavering loyalty to those he held dear. He has left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Eric Rawley’s journey on earth has concluded, but the echoes of his laughter and the warmth of his love will resonate for eternity.
Eric is preceded in death by his father, Rick E. Simonson, paternal grandparents, Betty and Keith Simonson, and maternal grandparents, Dennis and Frieda Rawley and his uncles, Dennis M. Rawley and Chris Simonson.
Eric is survived by his children, Aryka Rawley (Paul) and Kameron Rawley, the love of his life, Crystal Fullerton, his mother, Susan Rawley, granddaughter, Valerie Brown, and bonus granddaughter, Alayna Brown, siblings, Nathan Stout, Corey Simonson, Kelsie Simonson Latham, Hope Fullerton, and Jeremy Simonson, aunts, Paula Libka (Scott), Denise Lynch, and Sarah Rawley, nieces and nephews, Daizy and Varzidy Batchelor, Jaxton Stout, Addison Latham, Brendan Crague, Brielle and Grayson Simonson, and his brothers, and partners in crimes, Bill Johnson and Jason Ziemendorf, as well as many extended family members.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
