How do you write about a life well lived? Lawrence “Larry” L. Knight, aged 83, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, December 23, 2023. Born to Stone & Ada (Knowles) Knight on July 16, 1940, in Newark, N.J., Larry’s life was filled with adventures, travel, and love.

His early years were spent in Mississippi and New England, graduating from Amesbury High School in Amesbury, Massachusetts, and earning his MBA from Memphis State University, collecting experiences and stories every step of the way. Larry landed in Terre Haute and started his 36 year career as a well known and much loved marketing professor at ISU. His love of teaching didn’t stop in the classroom; he spent many, many hours teaching family on the golf course (with some success), in the kitchen (no recipes, just intuition), and in the wine cellar – anywhere the opportunity presented itself.

He retired in 2004 which left him plenty of time to do the things he loved: travel, golf, attend monthly poker games, and enjoy good wine. Whether it was sipping wine in the French countryside, exploring the sites of Australia, or fulfilling his dream of playing golf at St. Andrews in the UK, Larry lived his life to the fullest, filling his 83 years with love and adventures and relationships.

Larry was so much more than his hobbies and his career. His absence leaves a void in the many lives he touched. He leaves behind his loving wife, Brenda, his children, Stewart (Koni) and Ada Knight, step-children Rochell (Lee) Reberger and Mica (Nick) Bonomo, grandchildren, Michael, Carson, Hannah, Trey, Vincent, Stephanie, Danielle, and Melissa, and 10 great-grandchildren. His legacy and influence serve as inspiration to all who knew him as to how to live well.

There will be no formal service, as he was never one to be the center of attention, but the family invites you to raise a glass of wine or play a round of golf in his memory.
