Leo Leonard Southworth, 68, passed away January 7, 2024 at his residence. Leo was born to the late Wilford and Alberta (Parrish) Southworth on January 18, 1955.
Leo graduated from Clay City High School in 1974. Following graduation, Leo joined the United States Marine Corp. where he served for twelve years. After serving his country faithfully, Leo became a truckdriver for several years. Leo was then diagnosed with a service-related disability. He was a man of many hobbies. He loved shooting, especially clay pigeon shooting. In his free time, Leo loved to travel, he especially enjoyed visiting his family in Texas (Jim and Lisa Hull). He loved his four-legged best friends, Stanley, Bugsie, and Teddy. He was affectionately known as “Dave” to his grandchildren and other family members.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents, a step daughter, Wendy Morlan-Thomas, and a brother-in-law, Harvey Pedro.
Leo is survived by his wife, Christene Ellis, a son, Leo “Trey” Southworth III, step daughters, Pamela Ellis and her husband Kevin, and Anna Morlan, two sisters, Diana Dyer, and Wanda Pedro, grandchildren: Dustin Morlan and family, Holly Toney and family, Nicole Mueller and family, Jeremy York and family, and Shelby Ellis, his best friend, Jack Wolf and close friends who he considered family: Rhonda Dowell and her family, David Ellis and his family, Debbie Mascher and her family. He is also survived by various nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 11th from 3 – 5:30 P.M. at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 East National Avenue in Brazil. A funeral service with military honors will begin at 5:30. Cremation will follow. Following cremation, Leo’s cremated remains will be spread at sea.
