
Edward E. Mishler Obituary Edward (Ed) Eugene Mishler, 81, passed away Monday March 11 at Gibson Hospice Center.
Ed was born in Clay County to Arthur and Ethel (Bullerdick) Mishler on November 6, 1942. He married Sharon Plunkett on August 19, 1965. He was a graduate of Clay City schools, Indiana State University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville. Ed began his ministry during college at Paragon Baptist Church. While at Southern, Ed pastored Wirt Baptist Church, Madison, IN. He retired after 30 + years also pastoring churches at Ellettsville, Jasonville and Salem in Indiana, Monongahela , PA and Sistersville, WV. After pastoral retirement he worked at Poff’s Sporting Goods, Vigo County School Corporation, and interim ministry. He and Sharon owned and operated SnoBiz for 15 years. His sons and grandchildren gave him his greatest joy. He also cherished the opportunities to serve the Lord and build relationships with his congregations. As a pastor he was also active with the youth and camping programs. Ed served on the Indiana American Baptist Board in all positions including president. When returning to Clay County his family joined the First Baptist Church of Brazil. Ed enjoyed taking the family on trips across the U.S.A. and vacationing “back home” with the larger extended family. He enjoyed target shooting and motorcycling with family and friends, trips to Amish country in Ohio, and his personal worship and study time.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, nieces Kelly Ann Mishler and Jodi Brown, and brother-in-law Stephen Gill.
Survivors include his sons Chad (Carissa) and Chris (Tia), their mother Sharon. Grandchildren Noah (Natalie) and Grace, brother Jim Mishler (Margaret), sister-in-laws Deborah Brown (Jordie) and Peggy Gill. Also nieces and nephews (Gregg, Daniel, Michelle, Samantha, Jordan, Laura, Karin, & Ellen).
