Tracy Jean Brookshire, 55, passed away after a short illness on April 6, 2024 at St. Vincent surrounded by her family. Tracy was born on July 17, 1968 to Wendell Lee Minnick Sr. and Donna Jean (Archer) Simonson.

Tracy graduated from Northview High School in 1987. After high school she attended Indiana University where she obtained her degree in social work. She was a social worker for various places, but her favorite job was when she worked as an HIV coordinator for the State of Indiana. Tracy was a music lover of all genres. Tracy loved children. Her son Arizona was her pride and joy. Over the years she became known as “Aunt Tracy” to many children in the foster care system. She was loved by anyone that she met.

Tracy is preceded in death by her parents Wendell Minnick Sr. and Donna and Phil Simonson, and one brother, Mark Simonson.

Tracy is survived by her son, Arizona Brookshire, seven siblings, Wendell Minnick Jr. (Issabel), Tonya Pierce (Chris), Todd Simonson (Alyse), David Simonson (Stephanie), Doug Simonson (Amy), Rhonda Kennedy, and Tammy Smith (Kevin), her step mother, Connie Minnick, and her beloved dog, Annie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as best friends, Leigh Henderson and Lynda Hall.

In accordance with Tracy’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held in July.
