Joan Rogers Cottrell Elliott, 86, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday June 1, 2024 in Clinton Gardens surrounded by her family. Joan was born January 14, 1938 in Terre Haute to Richard “Doc” Rogers and Helen Donnenhoffer Rogers. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Terre Haute, and in later years, Saint Benedict Catholic Church.  She attended Saint Ann’s Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Schulte High School. She along with Roseanne Corey, her lifelong friend owned Toddlers Tutoring Nursery School for 33 years. Joan and her husband Larry, hosted yearly class reunion parties for Schulte, Gerstmeyer and Wiley High School alumni for over 20 years.  She enjoyed playing cards being a member of two Card Clubs. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered for over 20 years at the St. Ben’s Soup Kitchen. She enjoyed working in her yard and her many flower gardens. She enjoyed antiquing and had a booth at Nancy’s Downtown Mall now known as Glendy’s Downtown Mall. Most importantly she loved to spend time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Larry Paul Elliott in 2021. She is survived by her children; William Richard “Rick” Cottrell (Cheryl) and Deborah Fox (Andy). One sister survives, Patty Tryon. Four grandchildren survive; Ricky Cottrell (Casey), Ashley Lee (Andy), Christina Maxwell (Jacob) and Andrew Fox (Sindy). Five great grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden Cottrell, Parker and Piper Lee and George Fox. She is also survived by step children; Doug Elliott (Shelly) and Kelly Kellogg (Jay), and their children; Austin Brewer and Brandi Avalon (Eric) and several great grandchildren. Services are Friday June 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the Funeral Home. Father Joby Puphussery will be officiating. A special thank you to Wendy at Clinton Gardens for always going above and beyond with our mother. And special thanks to April Porter and Candi Snyder and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care during a difficult time. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Benedict Soup Kitchen, Catholic Charities of Terre Haute or Alzheimer Dementia Awareness Foundation.
