Walter “Joe” Fugate, 74, passed away May 19, 2022 at his residence. Walter was born to the late Joe Norman Fugate and Karis Althea Burch on September 21, 1947.
Walter graduated from Brazil High School. After graduation, Walter served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he had many roles over the years. Walter was a champion horseshoe pitcher.
Walter is preceded in death by his first and second wives, Marilyn Lyon Fugate and Patricia Compton Fugate, one grandson, Eli Garrett Heagy, as well as two siblings, Jerry Lowe, and Debbie Nevins.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Becky Martin, grandchildren, Sabrina Heagy, Walter Heagy and his wife Samatha, Chandler Heagy, great grandchildren, Walter Heagy Jr., Axl Martin, Oliver Heagy and Luna Heagy, siblings, Richard Fugate, and Raymond Fugate, as well as his girlfriend Connie Urbain.
If you would like to attend Walter’s memorial dinner and share your favorite memories it will be held May 31st at 6 P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church, 526 South Murphy Avenue in Brazil. Please wear casual clothing.
