Linda Sue Miles, passed away August 21, 2022. She was born August 21, 1946, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Earnest, and Dorothy (Benjamin) Miles. Linda attended Deming school thru 8th grade and was a Gerstmeyer Tech graduate in 1964. She worked at St Anthony hospital later to become Terre Haute Regional 18 years as a Nurse Aide. Linda attended First Church of God at 14th and 3rd Ave as child, and later attended several years at 8th Ave Baptist church with Aunt Betty Benjamin. There she participated in the choir. Linda helped take care of Granny Benjamin (mothers mother) who moved in with Dorothy and Earnie. Linda was also an avid baker of cookies and other desserts and shared with others. When Star Wars came out, she became a huge Star Wars lover. She encouraged her Niece Stacey to like it too, taking her to many movies. Stacey to this day is still a Star Wars lover and has taught her son, Sammy and daughter, Sophie to love Star Wars. Linda has always been a “collector”. She had over one hundred coin banks in various types and sizes. Linda was a big McDonald toy collector and had boxes of them saved. Hundreds of toys never removed from their original packaging. Linda also had many types of cookie jars too. Linda always used City busses and taxis to travel back and forth. She learned to drive and got license and car at age 43. It opened up a new world. This enabled Linda to help her Mother (died 2003) and Aunt Ruthie (died) and Great Aunt Ruth (died at 109 years of age) later in their lives. She worked at Billie Creek Village, dressing in early times attire serving ice cream (for an acquaintance) at a shop during Covered Bridge weeks. She traveled to Melbourne, Florida for several Decembers before Christmas to assist neighbor in Christmas tree sales. Later in life, dog sat many family pets for various owners. She had a favorite pet dog named Tkki Ben (Pekingese) and also had several cats over the years. Dude was her favorite. Pet sitting later evolved into cleaning homes of the same people for many years. She moved from her life time residence (parents’ house) into Peddle Park. She lived there for 8 years, and moved to Silver Birch. Linda is survived by her siblings Terry Miles (Gertrud) of Crestview Florida, and Thomas Miles (Annette) of Terre Haute, Indiana; nieces and nephews Eric Hamblin (Zorica), Jennifer Pierson (Chad), Stacey Stieglitz (Scott), Nicole Miles, Nancy Miles, Bobby Kay Miles; and several great nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and sister Diane Miles Hamblin. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 12:00p.m in Greiner Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00a.m. on Saturday, until service time.
