James P. Jones, Sr., 68 of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022 in his residence. He was born in Terre Haute on May 30, 1954 to James Albert Jones and Bertha Elizabeth Weir Jones.

Jim was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of the Shelburn American Legion Post # 197. He enjoyed drag racing for many years and was a vital member of BBD Racing. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, football & basketball, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family (especially his grandkids), cooking on the grill, and traveling with his wife Dianna.

Jim is survived by his wife Dianna Jones and three children; Brandon Jones (Alicia), James Jones, Jr. (Audrey), and April Barnes (Gerric). He is also survived by his siblings; Debra Phelps (Steven), Joyce Erwin, Tanna Shephard (Tim), Thomas Jones (Alisha), Rebecca Lankford (Robert), Karen Jones, Sharon Jordan (Dave), and Kenneth Jones (Amanda), as well as five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute, IN on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
