Carolyn Joanne Peterson, 88, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday evening, December 11, 2022. She was retired from the Federal Aviation Administration at Hulman Regional Airport after 17 years of service. Joanne was born January 19, 1934 in Terre Haute to Burley F. Williams and Mary Gilbert Williams.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Gary Carpenter of Terre Haute; her two granddaughters, Dana Morlan (Rob) and Kelli Davis (Bobby); five great-grandchildren, Jaret Morlan, Logan Morlan, Izyc McCoskey, Bodhi Morlan and Rylie Haavisto; her sister-in-law, Janice Williams; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cynthia Peterson; and brothers and sister, Norman Williams, Thomas Williams, Robert Williams, Gerald Williams and Jane Lifford.
Joanne was a 1952 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and had formerly worked for the US Postal Service and OSM (Office of Surface Mining). She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Preceptor Omicron Chapter. She loved golfing, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy! and volunteering as a Foster Grandparent. Joanne also served as treasurer of the local AARP.
The family would like to thank Visiting Angels and Hospice of the Wabash Valley for the loving care they provided to Joanne.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, December 19, 2022 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Steve Moore officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Monday from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM.
