Our precious mother, Viviane O’Dell, 93, of Terre Haute, got her wings and went to walk with the angels and be with the Lord on Sunday December 11, 2022. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 21, 1929 in Terre Haute to Cuba Paul Bowman and Pearl Pace Bowman. She married Jackie D. O’Dell, on June 6, 1948 and they raised 6 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jackie D. O’Dell, Sr., one son, Jacie D. O’Dell, Jr., a son in-law Phil Bridges, a great grandson Landon Bridges. Sisters; Katherine Caton, Betty Briley, Jeanne Higgins and a brother Paul Bowman. She was a loving devoted mother to her surviving children, Viviane Edwards (Bob), Jilly Hathaway (Steve), Tim O’Dell (Dion), Tammy Frye (Brian Caton) and Kim Bridges. One sister, Pearlina Bailey. Cherished grandma to 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Viviane was a lifelong resident of Terre Haute, graduated from Wiley High School and retired from Volt of Indianapolis. She devoted her life to her family and the Lord and enjoyed gospel music, reading her bible, gardening and attending several Pentecostal church’s in the area during her lifetime. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”. The family appreciates and thanks all her caregivers from Southern Care Hospice services and especially Karissa, Summer, and a lifelong friend Cindy Hamilton, for all their loving care in the last months.Services are Monday December 19th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47804. Visitation will be on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Kauffmann will be officiating. Burial will be at Highland Lawn Cemetery.
