Ernest “Ernie” E Steward of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on February 27th, 2023 . He was born on June 9th, 1935 to Ruel Frank Steward and Mable (Cooper) Steward. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ruel Frank Jr Steward, sister Doris McConchie, and sister Faye Thompson. Ernie is survived by his wife of 69 years Madonna (Jackson) Steward, they wedded on June 13th, 1953. He is also survived by his daughter Jacqueline Steward whom is his only child  and also his care taker until the very end; grandson Christopher Swander, granddaughter Holly Homburg (Travis); great-grandchildren Sarah Ellis( Brandon), Logan Stevens, and Gavin Stevens; great-great grandchildren Conner Ellis, Caysen Ellis, and Addisyn Ellis. Ernie has one surviving sibling Jane Sturm of Denver Colorado and several nieces and nephews. Ernie worked for many many years at PSI in the control room where he retired in 1997. If Ernie wasn’t on the golf course he was in his workshop. He was a man who loved to work with his hands. He build many things but the most special would be the tree house he built for his grandchildren. His grandchildren where his world. If you ask anyone that knew Ernie he was such a kind soul. He will be dearly missed. A celebration of life will be held on March 25th, 2023 from 11am to 2pm at the First Church of Nazarene located at 801 Fort Harrison Rd, Terre Haute, IN 47804.
