Barbara Sturgeon, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born on July 13, 1932 in Clinton, IN, Vermillion County, to Emmett Wright and Martha Chambers Wright. She was a wonderful homemaker as well as helping with the family farm and had worked for a short time as a secretary at World Gospel Church where she was a longtime member. She enjoyed working puzzles and was known as the Puzzle Queen. She enjoyed quilting and traveling, and was an excellent cook. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Joseph Sturgeon who passed away in May of 2018. She was the last surviving sibling of six; the five other siblings preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Marty Sturgeon of Columbus, OH; and a son, Roger Sturgeon (Kathy) of Terre Haute. She is survived by five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Services are Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to World Gospel Church; envelopes will be available.
