We are saddened to announce the passing of a wonderful son, father, brother and friend to all.
Matthew Totten, 44, passed away at home peacefully in his sleep on June 23, 2023. Matt

fought a long fight against pancreatic cancer for the past 15 months. During those months he

tried to make the most of the time he had left by doing what he loved most, hunting. He

harvested his last buck and turkey last season with the help of his good buddies. He took a

couple trips and tried to get in a few of those Busch lights he loved so much as well. Matt had a

lot of nicknames, Tater, Hot Totty, to most he was just known as Totten. Matt was a simple man

who didn’t have a need for the finer things in life. He worked hard and played harder. He

started Totten lawn care at the age of 13 and was a 20 year employee of UPS. He loved the

outdoors, driving back roads looking for deer, Seinfeld, grilling, cold beer, music, his dogs,

friends and family. Matt bought his dream back in 2017, a home on 60 acres, where he could

hunt and spend all of his free time outside where he was happiest. Matt lived a good life and for

the majority of the past 14 years he shared his life with his “big mama” Brooke Huber. All

though they have no children together, together they shared 5 children. Matt leaves behind his

2 beautiful daughters Khara Rae Totten, 21 and Rylee Jane Totten, 15, their sister Reagan

Frederick, 20, as well as his step children Blain Poland, 24, Cadin Frederick, 19, and Kennedy

Frederick, 16. He also leaves behind his loving parents Steve Totten and Jane (Sears) Totten,

his sister Amanda Totten; his nieces Alexa and Lyla Totten and his nephew Jase Matthew Totten, uncles Andy Totten (Carol) , Gary Totten (Diana), and Jeff Totten (Kelly) and Aunts Janie Isenberg (Mike),Marta Bodden(Simeon); and several cousins. He also leaves behind a mountain of men he loved like brothers. He was preceded in death by Aunts Anne Mathie and Kay Woodard, Uncles Jack and Danny Sears, grandparents Earnest and Jane Totten and Chuck Sears and Shirley McCartney, a nephew

Brady Totten and his favorite euchre buddy Donnie Goodwin. The family asks that in lieu of

flowers you make a donation in his honor to the National Wild Turkey Federation. This is an

organization that Matt supported with his friends and made wonderful memories at their

banquets every year.

“Go off with a good attitude, with respect for the wildlife you hunt and for the forest and fields

in which you walk. Immerse yourself in the outdoor experience. It will cleanse your soul and

make you a better person” -Fred Bear
