Benjamin Ryan Koerner, 17, passed away June 24, 2023 at home. He was born June
3, 2006, in Terre Haute, IN to John Kurtis Koerner and Amanda Fields.
Ben was smart, fun, quick to smile and always gave real hugs. He was strong willed and very stubborn.
He lit up a room and was ALWAYS laughing. He had the brain of a genius and the heart of a poet. He was
so opinionated it would drive you crazy. He cheated at board games and hated when you caught him.
He loved his family and video games. He was passionate and loyal with a big heart and he never met a
stranger.
He shared a love of cars with his Dad and was working on restoring his 1973 mustang. Ben scored high
on the ASVAB and was talking with an Army recruiter and hoped for Airborne or Sniper training.
Ben is survived by his parents, John Kurtis Koerner and Amanda Fields (fiancé Josh Purcell) of Terre
Haute, siblings Jordan Koerner (Alexis) of Rosedale, Elizabeth Koerner (fiancé Derrick May), Ava Clapp,
Ean and Elsie Fields all of Terre Haute, Alexis Koerner and Anne Marie Koerner of Shelburn,
grandmothers Lois Koerner and Rebecca Clapp of Terre Haute, nephews Brayden Koerner, Grayson May,
Carson Sams and niece Lillian Koerner, along with many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Ben was preceded in death by his sister Faith Anne Koerner, Uncle Adam Timmerman, Grandfather Tony
Koerner and Grandfather Kenneth Timmerman.
He will forever have such a special place in our hearts. He was such an incredible young man and this
truly does not seem real. Ben you are so loved and you will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Friday, June 30, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with a service to follow at Greiner Funeral
Home.
