TERRE HAUTE – Terre Haute firefighter Shad M. Stanifer, 33, of Terre Haute is facing criminal charges after police allege3 he touched and exchanged sexually explicit messages with a teenage girl.

The charges include:

• Sexual misconduct with a minor
  • A level 4 felony
• Child solicitation
  • A level 5 felony
• Sexual misconduct with a minor
  • A level 5 felony
• Vicarious sexual gratification
  • A level 5 felony
• Possession of child pornography
  • A level 6 felony

Terre Haute Fire Chief Bill Berry issued this statement, “The Terre Haute Fire Department is aware of the Tuesday night arrest and pending charges of Firefighter Shad Stanifer. Pursuant to Indiana Code and Department policy, this matter will be immediately turned over to the Terre Haute Fire Department Merit Board for findings regarding Firefighter Stanifer’s ongoing status with the Terre Haute Fire Department. Additional information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.”
