David R. Denton, 87, died surrounded by family on July 11, 2023. He was born on July 26, 1935 in Indianapolis, the son of Robert and Janie (Long) Denton.

David graduated from Short Ridge High School in 1953. He then went to serve in the Marines (Active Duty) from October of 1956- October of 1958, finishing the remainder of his time in the reserves until 1960.

David was married to Barbara J. (Ross) Denton on March 10, 1978. They were married for 45 years and together raised 5 children, Kim (Cecil) Sammons, Jeffrey(Joyce) Denton, Steven (Cathy) Hedges, Jeffery Hedges, Becky (Brian) Harlan. He had nine Grandchildren, Cristin Savage, Chris Denton, Scott Denton, Abbey Denton, Phillip Hedges, Heather Hedges, Tiffany Hedges-Higgins, Kyle Harlan and Carlie Dale. He also had 13 great-grandchildren.

David was a loyal member of VFW Post #98, American Legion Post 497 and a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 99. He spent the majority of his life working as a printer at Shepard and Poorman in Indianapolis, being a lifetime member of the Printers Association. He enjoyed spending his free time golfing and being with friends. After his retirement he spent most of his time on the golf course at Eagle Creek mowing the grass and hitting balls.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Jeff and brothers Bill, Carl, and Chuck.

Surviving in addition to his wife and other children are brothers Donald (Scarlett) Denton and Mike (Carol) Denton.

A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 22nd from 5:00pm-8:00pm at FOE #3207 (5556 E. US Hway 40 Plainfield, IN 46168)

David will be missed by many, but we know that he is no longer in pain and with those who have passed on a green course with endless golf.
