Tammy Jo Sinders, 61, of Brazil, Indiana, gained her wings on September 27, 2023 following a year-long battle with cancer.

She was born on November 18, 1961, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the daughter of Frank Royce Newport and Betty Jane (Martin) Newport. She graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1981. Later, she graduated from Ivy Tech with a degree in Business Administration. Tammy worked in the accounting field for much of her life.

Tammy was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing online games, shopping, watching soap operas and the Price is Right and spending time with her family and friends.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father Frank Royce Newport and her mother Betty Jane Smock.

Tammy is survived by her husband Perry Sinders whom she married May 11, 1985; son Jonathan Sinders (Kayla) and their daughter Alice Mae Sinders; daughter Elizabeth Sinders (Jarett Stringer); sisters: Rhonda Jenkins and Sheri Weber; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, at 2:00 with Pastor Lee Reberger officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
