William “Bill” Byers Sr.

William Byers Sr., 90, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on April 3, 2024.  He was born on April 9, 1933, in Diamond, Indiana, to Virgil Byers and Anna (Durkos-Byers) Moy.  He was a proud Navy Veteran, that served during the Korean War between January 1951 and February 1954.  He holds membership with the American Legion Post #104.  He enjoyed gambling, fishing, and traveling, especially to Florida. Bill worked and retired from the Vigo County Highways Department after many years of employment as an Accountant. After retirement, Bill ,Wanda, and his brother Rich went to Clewiston Florida and enjoyed many fishing trips. Together, they also enjoyed attending Brittney and Jacob’s sporting events.  Bill is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Monty Gilman of Clinton, Indiana; grandchildren Brittney Molenaar (Dylan) of New Mexico and Jacob Gilman (Remi) of Indianapolis; great granddaughter Penelope; sister Judy Shelton; nephew J. Parrish Shelton (Marsha); great niece Kali Holmes (Nygel ).  He was preceded in death by his parents including his stepfather Richard Moy; wife Loretta Wandlene (Hutson) Byers; son William Michael Byers; brother Richard Byers; and brother-in-law James Shelton. Entombment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.  The chapel service will be on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 1:00p.m. in the Chapel of Memories at Roselawn. The family has entrusted Greiner Funeral Home with care and arrangements.
