VIGO COUNTY, Ind – A public forum was held Thursday evening to discuss research being done on a new Vigo County Jail.

Nearly everyone 150 or so people that attended agreed that a new jail was a necessity.

Rod Miller with CRS Incorporated talked about how to design and properly staff a new jail:

Staffing :14

Miller said that proper staffing means a safer facility for the staff and inmates and added that properly budgeting for adequate staff to operate a new jail can be just as important as budgeting for the cost to build it.

Right now, we are only about half way through the project of determining exactly what we need to build and how we need to build it. The hope is to have many decisions made by fall.

Residents are encouraged to get in touch with their elected officials to let them know your ideas.
