VIGO COUNTY, Ind – On Monday (5/5/20) Indiana State Police wrapped up a criminal investigation that resulted in the arrest of 47 year old Chad Dycus of Terre Haute.
Troopers say that they had received a tip that Dycus had been repeatedly been intimidating people with a green laser by pointing it at them and at law enforcement during police investigations.
On April 21, the Indiana State Police helicopter assisted West Terre Haute Police with a search after a vehicle pursuit that ended at the intersection of Ohio Boulevard and Fruitridge Avenue near the entrance of Deming Park. The subject involved in the pursuit bailed on foot into Deming Park. While the helicopter was attempting to locate the fleeing subject, Troopers advised officers on the ground that they were being repeatedly hit with a green laser. Using technology on the aircraft, they were able to locate the exact location of the laser being used, which was found to be the residence of Chad Dycus.
On April 30, 2020, Troopers served a search warrant at the Dycus’ residence.
When Troopers arrived, Dycus fled on foot into the neighborhood.
Troopers went into his home with the warrant and located a green laser pointer, marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. In addition, Troopers also located scales and other items of evidence of possible drug dealing. The ongoing investigation also revealed that Dycus had an active warrant out of Vermillion County for counterfeiting.
Monday (5/4/20) Troopers were tipped that Dycus had returned to his home.
Dycus and 39 year old Kimberly D. Altvater, of Terre Haute, were both arrested.
