Gary David Starr, 66, of Brazil passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 in Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. He was born on October 24, 1953 in Brazil to Bert and Wilma (Reherman) Starr.

Gary was a 1972 graduate of Brazil High School. Earlier in life he was a mechanic for Hudson Battery in Brazil and in 1984 he went to work at Great Dane Trailers as a specialist till his retirement. On September 6, 1974 he married the love of his life Carol Targett. Gary loved spending time with family and especially his granddaughter, Meghan. He loved to go camping, fishing, riding in his side-by-side and tinkering in his garage. Gary had numerous close friends that were special to him and he was like a dad or uncle to many kids that he met over the years. He attended Epworth Church and was a member of American Legion Post #2.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Wilma Starr; 3 brothers, Gene, Joe and Alan Star.

Survivors include his loving wife Carol Starr of Brazil; 2 sons, Jason Starr and wife, Jessica of Terre Haute and Jared Starr and his companion, Crystal of Brazil; a granddaughter, Meghan Starr; 3 brothers, Bill, Marion and John Starr; 4 sisters, Beth Gilmer, Chris Sonnenberg, Catherine Hargis and Nelda Medley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Gary’s wishes were that he wanted to be cremated. The family plans a Celebration of Life service at a later date. Memorial contributions could be made to the American Legion Post #2 or Hospice of the Wabash Valley. Arrangements are under the direction of French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. Brazil.
