TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Investigators said on Thursday that a domestic breakup may have sparked the fatal shooting that led to a two-day police standoff in Terre Haute this week.
Vigo County Prosecutor Terry Modesitt says preliminary findings suggest that “a domestic situation” preceded Monday’s shooting of 40-year-old Amanda Kerns in Terre Haute.
Police say 36-year-old Michael R. Reynolds fatally shot Kerns and critically wounded another man Monday at a home on 1st Ave.
Reynolds was fatally shot Tuesday following a 20-hour standoff.
